Dallas, Texas- Up-and-coming singer/songwriter Sarah Hurst just released her debut album Fine to Wait on May 21, 2013. This album is reminiscent of the classic singer/songwriter era featuring acoustic sounds, heartfelt lyrics, and a strong pop sensibility. These eleven tracks can be purchased on iTunes or CD Baby and can be streamed on Spotify.
This project was recorded in the new Dallas Baptist University studio, designed by renowned studio designer Russ Berger. The tracks were recorded by a band of young but talented college students. As a new songwriter, Sarah somehow possesses the heart and lyrical insights of an old soul. This project effectively showcases a confident singer/songwriter with an impressive melodic sensibility along with smart, yet vulnerable lyrics.
Fine to Wait is primarily an acoustic performance with indelible guitar hooks anchored against a flowing ambient backdrop. Songs flow quite naturally from start to finish. Tracks such as “The Valiant “ and “Crying Out Loud” demonstrate Sarah’s audacious wit but also a remarkable gift for storytelling, while “To the Moon” and “I Am Thine” reveal a knack for penning mature and memorable love songs. “Hotel Man” is bouncy and playful, while “Why Even Start” dares to evolve into a full-blown band experience. With tips of the hat to Joni Mitchell, James Taylor, Paul McCartney, and Brian Wilson, Sarah nevertheless has carved out her own unique and particular musical style. This is the beginning of what is sure to be a noteworthy career for a very talented young songwriter.
